Swiss Medtech – the voice of Swiss medical technology

Swiss Medtech represents over 800 companies in its role as industry association for medical technology in Switzerland. With the third-highest contribution to Switzerland’s trade surplus and a workforce of over 70,000, the medtech sector contributes significantly to the domestic economy. Swiss Medtech advocates for conditions that enable the industry to achieve peak performance and provide first-class medical care.

Our guiding principle

Vision

Switzerland is the world’s most attractive location for the development and production of complex, innovative medical devices. The Swiss medtech industry helps people to have the best possible health and quality of life. As an important industrial sector, it contributes greatly to the prosperity of our population.

Mission

Swiss Medtech represents and promotes the interests of Switzerland’s medical technology industry. We are committed to creating an environment which supports innovation, favours start-ups, and strengthens the competitiveness of companies. We actively incorporate our members’ interests into economic and healthcare policy decision-making processes. We facilitate networking both within the industry and with relevant stakeholders. We work closely with our members, inform about important developments, and provide support in the face of challenges. As an industry association, we are the first point of contact for all Swiss medical technology matters – and communicate the sector’s value and activities to the general public.

Values

Swiss Medtech bases its opinions on facts, operates with competence, and serves as a reliable partner. Our approach is pro-business and responsible. We cultivate constructive dialogues with members, decision-makers from government, the authorities, and other stakeholder groups. We communicate proactively and transparently.

Swiss Medtech as an apprenticeship provider

Swiss Medtech is committed to vocational education and training, thereby taking responsibility for both the economy and society. In summer 2026, Swiss Medtech’s first apprentice began a three-year apprenticeship as a Commercial Employee with a Federal VET Diploma (Services & Administration). Throughout her apprenticeship, she will be supported by our vocational trainer, Doris Loretan, who will serve as her main point of contact. As an apprenticeship provider, Swiss Medtech contributes to vocational education and training and supports the next generation of professionals in the medical technology industry.
