Circular Experience Day Medtech

Circular Economy in the Medtech Industry: New Regulatory Requirements as a Driver for Market Access, Innovation and Competitiveness (in German)

With the PPWR, the new Swiss Packaging Ordinance, VREG and ESPR, requirements for circular product design, packaging and take-back systems are also increasing for the medtech industry. Many questions regarding implementation remain open, but product development cannot wait. What decisions need to be made today in product and packaging development to secure long-term market access and make products fit for the future?

The first Circular Experience Day by Swiss Medtech, organised together with Milani Design & Consulting, brings together professionals from R&D, engineering and product development. At recycling company Immark, participants will experience end-of-life practices first-hand. Concrete examples from companies will show which approaches are already being tested. In a small, personal setting, participants will discuss what this means in practice for product development and innovation and what new opportunities may arise for companies and their competitiveness.

The following questions will be at the centre of the event:

  • What decisions in R&D and engineering need to be made today to take future regulatory requirements into account?
  • How are companies dealing with regulatory uncertainty and trade-offs between circular economy, patient safety, market access and economic feasibility?
  • What can companies implement now, and what new opportunities are emerging for innovation and circular business models such as reuse and refurbishment?

Target group

Professionals and executives from R&D, engineering, product development and innovation in medtech manufacturing companies, as well as related areas such as materials, packaging and sustainability.

Participation

The event follows the motto «From industry for industry» and will be held in German, with individual contributions in English. The number of participants is limited to enable an open and in-depth exchange. Participants from medtech manufacturing companies and suppliers will be given priority.
