Description of member categories
Manufacturer
Manufacturer means a natural or legal person who manufactures or fully refurbishes a device or has a device designed, manufactured or fully refurbished, and markets that device under its name or trademark. Manufacturers that are purely sales representatives in Switzerland are listed in the Dealer category.
Dealer
A dealer is a company that sells products from Swiss manufacturers in Switzerland and/or imports products from foreign manufacturers into Switzerland and sells them here.
Supplier AND Subcontractor
A supplier is a company that produces or processes parts, assemblies or finished medical devices in the sense of an extended workbench for its customers on a contractual basis. Suppliers are also companies that supply the medical technology manufacturing industry with medical goods, production aids or raw materials.
Subcontractors provide their customers with device-specific services, such as engineering, testing or software development. As with suppliers, they can be inspected by competent authorities as part of market surveillance activities in accordance with the MDR.
Service provider
A service provider is a company that provides its customers from the medical technology industry with specialised services on a contractual basis. Service providers use their expertise to support their customers in strategic corporate development and management.
Medtech network
Key players from the extended medical technology network research and develop in the field of medical technology, are buyers or promote the industry.
